It’s time for a different conversation about Gaza

Residents of Gaza cannot participate in the elections, but their lives are directly impacted by them.

Israel still controls countless aspects of life in Gaza, including people’s access to family, education, professional development and medical treatment. Israel still decides who and what can enter and exit Gaza, and it maintains control over Gaza’s air space and territorial waters.

Israel’s actions in relation to the Strip have far-reaching implications for the stability of the region as a whole. And yet, a serious discussion about these issues is notably absent from the public discourse surrounding the upcoming elections. The elections are an opportunity for Israeli citizens to demand that candidates recognize Israel’s responsibility, and the implications of its actions vis-à-vis the Gaza Strip.
