Application under the Freedom of Information Act for information on protocols relating to address changes from Gaza to the West Bank as part of the political gesture
On June 28, 2012, Gisha submitted an application under the Freedom of Information Act to the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT). The application concerns Netanyahu’s pledge to allow 5,000 Palestinians registered with Gaza addresses to change their address to the West Bank as part of a political gesture.In the application, Gisha asked for documents detailing the procedures, criteria and considerations followed by the authorities with respect to the gesture, and relevant statistics. Among other things, Gisha requested the disclosure of protocols related to the filing of address change applications, the identity of the officials who review such applications and the criteria they use, protocols on providing responses to applications and figures on the number of applications submitted so far and the number of approvals and denials to those applications.
