Dear friends,
A few months ago, we received the following note from Fountain Art Collective: “In the wake of the last round of hostilities, we, as people who are active in the art world, have tried to figure out how we might be able to respond to the situation from our perspective. We feel that the art world, which is based in the values of humanism and social awareness, must actively respond.”
We were blown away when more than 100 Israeli and Palestinian artists chose to donate artworks for what became the #Right_to_Movement campaign, which was launched last week. All proceeds from the campaign will be donated to Gisha and support our ongoing work to protect the right to freedom of movement.
Many of the pieces are still available for purchase on the campaign website.
On October 22, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz declared six Palestinian civil society organizations “terrorist organizations.” Gisha, together with with 24 other human rights and civil society organizations in Israel, condemned this decision and also joined a solidarity visit to Ramallah last week to send a clear message: Any attempt to silence civil society organizations is an affront to us all.
It is more important than ever to continue our joint efforts to defend human rights.
Join us in promoting the right to movement, purchase art, and please share the campaign with your networks. Thank you.
Best,
Tania Hary
Executive Director
