Israel continuing to block entry of construction materials to the Gaza Strip

October 22, 2013. Today is day ten of Israel's refusal to allow building materials into the Gaza Strip via Kerem Shalom Crossing. The ban was imposed on October 13th, after Israel discovered a tunnel between its territory and the Gaza Strip. The ban applies to both the private sector and international organizations.

Meanwhile, Rafah Crossing has been operating for the past three days, and registration for exit with the Interior Ministry office in Gaza has resumed. Over the last two days, some 900 people were registered for exit through the crossing, in addition to the 4,000 already on the list. Additionally, over the last two days, some 930 individuals exited Gaza via Rafah.

Due to increased presence of Egyptian military forces in the Rafah area, the tunnels between Gaza and Egypt have been almost completely inactive for more than a week.
