Rafah Crossing was opened today for travel in both directions and will remain open for three days
August 14, 2012. Egypt has announced that the Rafah crossing will open today for travel in both directions and will remain open for three days. Only individuals in need of medical care and foreign passport and visa holders will be allowed to travel. Travel will be approved only to Palestinians who registered to exit between August 8 -11.
The Rafah crossing has been closed for five days. Last Friday, August 10th, the crossing opened only to allow individuals to return to the Gaza Strip from Egypt. The crossing closed on August 5th after an armed group attacked Egyptian soldiers in Sinai.
