The Palestinian Center for Human Rights condemned Hamas’ decision to delay the entry of a Fatah delegation into the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) published a condemnation of the treatment of a Fatah delegation by Hamas security officers in Beit Hanoun. The delegation arrived at Erez Crossing on January 6, 2012 and was delayed on the grounds that its arrival had not been coordinated in advance. After waiting for a time, the Fatah delegation decided to leave the STrip. PCHR called upon the Interior Ministry in Gaza to respect civil liberties and stop restricting the right to freedom of movement in the Strip.

The Ministry of Interior in Gaza posted a notice on its website denying reports of the refusal to allow the Fatah delegation into the Gaza Strip. The notice read: “The delegation refused to wait while officials at the crossing made contact with the leadership in Gaza in order to coordinate its entry. They waited no more than ten minutes”.
