Israel authorized address changes for more than 1,900 people living in the West Bank
On August 4, 2011, the Palestinian Authority’s Civil Affairs Committee received approval to change the addresses of 1,956 people who live in the West Bank but are listed in the Israeli-controlled Palestinian population registry as residents of Gaza. The approved changes are part of the 5,000 that were announced in a package of measures by Israel and the Quartet. Up until now a total of 2,254 address changes have been made, less than half of what was pledged.
According to Israel’s estimates, about 35,000 people living in the West Bank are listed in the Israeli-controlled Palestinian population registry as residents of Gaza and are unable to change their address. For more information, click here.
