Gisha Response to Gaza Boat Interception: If Israel wants to stop ships into Gaza, it must allow cars and trucks out of Gaza

In response to Israel's interception of a ship headed for Gaza, Gisha notes:

The question is not what is entering Gaza but rather what – and who – is being permitted to leave. Israel continues to prevent people in Gaza from traveling to the West Bank and marketing their goods outside Gaza – stifling economic and social development. If Israel wants to exercise its authority, as occupying power, to stop ships from reaching Gaza, it must fulfill its obligation to allow free movement of people and goods via the land crossings, subject only to individual security checks.
